Three pretty exciting things about college football’s Week 10: it’s November now, we have Playoff rankings now, and one of the annual biggest games is Saturday night. And there are plenty of other good games, too, because there always are.

This likely won’t be a chaos weekend, with only two games between two ranked teams (Alabama-LSU and Nebraska-Ohio State) and most other ranked teams favored by big spreads. Safe and secure all around! When you feel like that, that’s how you know when a chaos weekend is about to strike. So we’re well on course for fun.

Texas A&M, rather surprisingly, came in at No. 4 in the first College Football Playoff rankings, ahead of an unbeaten Washington team. The Aggies will have chance to prove their ranking against a Mississippi State team that defeated them the last time they met in Starkville.(Click here for NCAA FB Week-10 picks without regard to the spread.)

The biggest games of the weekend kick off at 8 p.m. ET. For Big Ten fans, you have a top-10 matchup featuring two 1-loss contenders in Nebraska and Ohio State. For the SEC crowd, you have the LSU-Alabama game. The last two times these teams met in Baton Rouge, Alabama needed some late heroics to pull out a win.

Air Force Falcons at Army Black Knights:

Air Force

10:00 PM CBSSN Michie Stadium, West Point, NY

Air Force snapped a three-game losing streak by beating Fresno State, and now the Falcons will look to continue to build on that momentum when they visit the Army Black Knights in a service academy rivalry game on Saturday.

Arion Worthman, Tim McVey

Monthly $10.99 | Yearly Package $29.99 | MAC/OSX Package $49.00

Air Force (5-3) finally broke the three-game losing streak it was on when it took down Fresno State last week, 31-21. In the three weeks prior to that victory, the Falcons fell on the road at Wyoming and at home versus New Mexico and Hawaii.

It’s been a similar situation for Army (5-3). The Black Knights started off 3-2 and have won two of their last three games. Despite a loss to North Texas two weeks ago, Army picked up those two wins at home against Lafayette and this past weekend on the road at Wake Forest, 21-13.

The Falcons are in full control of the all-time series, 35-14-1. Air Force has won the last three contests, including last year’s meeting, 20-3. Army hasn’t won since 2012 at West Point.

Vanderbilt Commodores at Auburn Tigers:

#9 Auburn

10:00 PM ESPN
Jordan-Hare Stadium, Auburn, A

No. 9 Auburn (6-2, 4-1 SEC) seeks its sixth straight victory Saturday. Its opponent is Vanderbilt (4-4, 1-3), which had an open date last week. Prior to that, Vanderbilt had topped Georgia and Tennessee State, respectively, giving the Commodores their first two-game win streak since 2013 and the first time they had won consecutive games at any point in the Derek Mason era.

Monthly $10.99 | Yearly Package $29.99 | MAC/OSX Package $49.00

The Tigers run for an average of 303.4 yards per game, which leads the SEC and ranks third in the FBS. Vanderbilt allows 157.6 yards per game on the ground, which ranks seventh in the conference. The most rushing yards Vanderbilt has allowed this season came against run-first, run-often Georgia Tech, which finished with 289 yards.

The Commodores have been porous against the pass this season. At 240.4 passing yards allowed per game, Vanderbilt ranks 12th in the SEC, ahead of only Texas A&M and Mississippi State. Four different opponents have passed for 285 yards or more against the Commodores, which bodes well for White should the Tigers elect to take to the air with regularity this weekend.

There are plenty of numbers the Commodores would prefer not to look at when it comes to their offense. They rank last in the SEC in total offense (308.6 ypg) and next to last in scoring offense (20.8 ppg). One of Vanderbilt’s biggest issues, however, has been its inability to extend drives.

Texas Longhorns at Texas Tech Red Raiders:

Texas Tech

10:00 PM FS1 Jones AT&T Stadium, Lubbock, T

Coming off of an upset of the Baylor Bears, the Texas Longhorns have a chance to beat another in-state rival on Saturday when they visit the Texas Tech Red Raiders. This game very well could be a shootout, as quarterback Patrick Mahomes and the Red Raiders average 47.4 points per game, while D’Onta Foreman and the Longhorns average 36.

Monthly $10.99 | Yearly Package $29.99 | MAC/OSX Package $49.00

The Texas Longhorns are winless away from Austin this season (0-4) and if Charlie Strong’s bunch hopes to change that Saturday morning, they’ll have to do so against one of the most explosive offenses in recent memory. Fortunately for Strong, Sterlin Gilbert and the offensive cast, opposite Texas Tech’s potent offense is a tremendously sub-par defense that’s allowed 65-plus points twice this season.

The good news for Texas Tech? Chris Warren III, who rushed for 276 yards in last year’s game between these two schools, has been sidelined by a knee injury since early October. The bad news? Foreman entered this weekend as the Big 12’s only 1,000-yard rusher, and he’s looking for his 10th straight 100-yard performance. Among Big 12 teams, only Iowa State is yielding more yards on the ground than Tech, which is gifting opposing teams 213.8 yards each outing.

The teams have identical records, with both needing to win at least two of their final four games to become bowl eligible. The Longhorns have yet to win away from home this season.

Wisconsin Badgers at Northwestern Wildcats:

#8 Wisconsin

10:00 PM ABC
Ryan Field, Evanston, IL

Wisconsin is coming off an overtime victory against Nebraska, and the Badgers’ only losses have come by a touchdown each, to Michigan and Ohio State.

Nebraska v Wisconsin

Monthly $10.99 | Yearly Package $29.99 | MAC/OSX Package $49.00

Coach Paul Chryst said Monday that Hornibrook will start on Saturday at Northwestern. Hornibrook took over as starter in the Week 4 win at Michigan State. Alex Hornibrook remains the starter at quarterback for No. 8 Wisconsin, which has also used backup Bart Houston more behind center of late.

The Northwestern Wildcats hung tough against the Ohio State Buckeyes a week ago but weren’t able to pull the upset. This Saturday, the Wildcats get another chance at a top 10 team as the eighth-ranked Wisconsin Badgers come to Evanston.

But Chryst gave Houston a couple series two weeks ago against Iowa. Houston got a few more drives in last week’s win over Nebraska , including the series in overtime that led to Dare Ogunbowale’s 11-yard touchdown run for Wisconsin (6-2, 3-2 Big Ten).

Oklahoma State Cowboys at Kansas State Wildcats:

#18 Oklahoma State

Kansas State

1:30 AM ABC
Bill Snyder Family Stadium, Man

The Cowboys have won four in a row after a 2-2 start, while the Wildcats have won three of their past four. Kansas State has been perfect at home this season and enters as a narrow favorite.

Mason Rudolph

Monthly $10.99 | Yearly Package $29.99 | MAC/OSX Package $49.00

Oklahoma State is in the mix for a Big 12 championship. A road victory against Kansas State would help that cause. The Wildcats are looking to enter that mix, as well, and can become bowl eligible with a win.

After upsetting West Virginia and cracking the College Football Playoff Top 25, the Oklahoma State Cowboys will look to keep their momentum going as they visit the Kansas State Wildcats on Saturday.

Average passing teams have found success against the Wildcats’ secondary this season. Jordan Willis, Tanner Wood and Reggie Walker need to put pressure on Rudolph and force him into bad situations and help K-State’s defensive backs.

Syracuse Orange at Clemson Tigers:

#2 Clemson

1:30 AM ABC
Memorial Stadium , Clemson, SC

Deshaun Watson and the No. 2 Clemson Tigers have been clutch this season, coming up with big plays whenever they’ve been challenged to remain undefeated heading into Saturday’s home game against the Syracuse Orange.

Clemson v Florida State

Monthly $10.99 | Yearly Package $29.99 | MAC/OSX Package $49.00

Clemson received a great position after the first College Football Playoff rankings were unveiled. They sit above Michigan and Texas A&M in the top four. The Tigers have a perfect record, which has been tested by Louisville and North Carolina State in recent weeks.

Last Saturday, Florida State nearly knocked off Deshaun Watson and Co. However, 17 fourth quarter points helped Clemson pull out the victory. They had 378 passing yards from Watson and four touchdowns as a team. They also had 133 yards on the ground, including Wayne Gallman having 82 yards and two touchdowns.

As for Syracuse, they have had an up and down season. They had an early season blowout to Lamar Jackson and Louisville, but have since rebounded with a big win over the then-No. 17 Virginia Tech Hokies. Boston College also went down to them last Saturday.

Virginia Tech Hokies at Duke Blue Devils:

#19 Virginia Tech

Wallace Wade Stadium, Durham

With the Virginia Tech Hokies having won five of their past six games and the Duke Blue Devils 0-4 in ACC play, it might seem as though Saturday’s matchup between the two in Durham, North Carolina, would be a foregone conclusion.

Monthly $10.99 | Yearly Package $29.99 | MAC/OSX Package $49.00

The Hokies rank fourth in the ACC, putting up 36.2 points per game. Last time out, quarterback Jerod Evans passed for more than 400 yards, and Tech had three receivers break the 100-yard mark. Evans is continuing his monster debut season in Blacksburg.

Freeman had seen the Virginia Tech junior wideout’s fourth-quarter touchdown catch, the one where he turned and reached over his defender, stretching all 10 fingers to catch a 16-yard pass from Jerod Evans in the corner of the end zone. It put Ford ahead of Freeman at the top of the Hokies’ record book for career touchdown receptions, with 23.

The Hokies didn’t have their best game in the road win at Pittsburgh, but with Tech now routinely putting up big points on offense, there’s a little less pressure on Bud Foster’s unit. The Hokies still rank fourth in the conference in scoring defense, giving up just 20.1 points per game, and fourth in total defense, allowing an average of 321.5 yards a game.

Oregon Ducks at USC Trojans:

5:00 AM ESPN
Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum,

Saturday, Nov. 5, the Oregon Ducks take on the USC Trojans. The game, to be played at Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, is slated for a 7:00 p.m. ET start time and will be broadcast on ESPN. Read on for our USC vs. Oregon preview.

Daniel Imatorbhebhe

Monthly $10.99 | Yearly Package $29.99 | MAC/OSX Package $49.00

USC’s path to the Pac-12 Conference championship game is straightforward but narrow. It must win all four remaining games, and it needs Colorado and Utah to each lose at least one more game. The Trojans’ pursuit starts here, and they are heavily favored. But Oregon is dangerous. The Ducks have defeated USC in four of the last five meetings. “We need to take this game serious as a heart attack,” USC Coach Clay Helton said.

Oregon opened the season with two straight wins, but then its season fell apart. The Ducks dropped five in a row, starting with a pair of three-point losses to Nebraska and Colorado. Then things really got ugly when they lost 70-21 to No. 5 Washington. Oregon finally got back to its winning ways against Arizona State last week with a 54-35 victory.

After starting the season 1-3, headlined by an embarrassing loss to Alabama, USC has won four straight to turn its season around. The Trojans found some much needed offense in the form of freshman quarterback Sam Darnold, who took over the starting job from Max Browne. Darnold is completing over 67% of his passes and has a stellar 18-3 touchdown to interception ratio.

Iowa Hawkeyes at Penn State Nittany Lions:

#12 Penn State

5:30 AM BTN Beaver Stadium, University Park,

Penn State will continue its bid for a spot in the College Football Playoff by hosting Iowa on Saturday, November 5, 2016, in a Big Ten matchup at Beaver Stadium in University Park, Pa.

Penn State is in the middle of a four-game win streak and landed at No. 12 this week in the first edition of the College Football Playoff rankings. Although positive vibes are flowing in Happy Valley, this week presents a very difficult test.

Iowa has struggled this season, but still has the ability to pull off the upset. A tough defense, led by top defensive back Desmond King, could make things tough on Trace McSorley and the Penn State offense. The Hawkeyes rank near the bottom of the conference in both passing and rushing offense, setting up a good matchup for a much-improved Nittany Lion defense.

Most of Penn State’s players saw the first College Football Ranking and their team’s No. 12 CFP ranking on Twitter, the same platform many of them used to commit to the school a few years ago when national attention was focused on off-field scandal rather than on-field success.

Alabama Crimson Tide at LSU Tigers:

#1 Alabama

#13 LSU

6:00 AM CBS Tiger Stadium , Baton Rouge, LA

The biggest game of the weekend in college football sees the top-ranked team in the country head on the road into one of the nation’s most hostile environments, and it will be in primetime on the SEC on CBS.

Alabama LSU Football

Monthly $10.99 | Yearly Package $29.99 | MAC/OSX Package $49.00

The Tigers’ powerful and explosive star running back — who scored three touchdowns of 59 yards or longer in his previous game — was nowhere to be seen during designated times for media interviews this week. But when the cameras and microphones were gone, Fournette apparently had plenty to say to his teammates about facing a Crimson Tide squad that last year held him to a mere 31 yards on 19 carries while defeating the Tigers for a fifth-straight time.

Auburn and LSU played the last weekend of September and both coaches were under pressure. The ugly game had a bizarre ending. The next day LSU fired coach Les Miles, while Auburn and Gus Malzahn were feeling fortunate to be 2-2.

Alabama takes its 8-0 record into Tiger Stadium for a night game with an LSU team that’s played inspired football since Ed Orgeron became the interim head coach. For the first time all season, Alabama is not a double-digit favorite in a game.

Nebraska Cornhuskers at Ohio State Buckeyes:

#10 Nebraska

#6 Ohio State

6:00 AM ABC
Ohio Stadium, Columbus, OH

For the second week in a row, No. 10 Nebraska will go on the road to face a top-10 foe in conference. After falling to Wisconsin in overtime a week ago, the Cornhuskers will hit the road to take on No. 6 Ohio State.

Curtis Samuel

Monthly $10.99 | Yearly Package $29.99 | MAC/OSX Package $49.00

Nebraska continues a rugged two game road trip on Saturday night, when the Huskers travel to Columbus, Ohio to take on sixth-ranked Ohio State. Nebraska enters the game with a 7-1 record and a 4-1 mark in Big Ten play, following a 23-17 overtime loss at Wisconsin on Saturday night. Nebraska rallied from a 10-point deficit entering the final quarter, but Wisconsin prevailed in the extra session.

Ohio State also comes into the game with a 7-1 record, including a 4-1 mark in the Big Ten Conference. The Buckeyes suffered a three-point loss at Penn State on Oct. 22, but bounced back with a 24-20 win over Northwestern on Saturday in Columbus. The Buckeyes rank among the nation’s best on both offense and defense. Ohio State ranks eighth nationally in rushing offense and No. 10 in scoring. The defense is also stout, holding opponents to just 295.5 yards and 15.1 points per game.

The Ohio State Buckeyes are No. 6 in the first College Football Playoff rankings, and the Nebraska Cornhuskers are No. 10. The loser of Saturday’s primetime game at Ohio Stadium will have its national playoff hopes all but dashed in front of a national TV audience.

It feels like everyone is jockeying for position in the SEC East — Florida, Tennessee and Kentucky are the three in the mix — and despite the Crimson Tide’s dominance, they haven’t sewn up the West just yet.(Click here for NCAA FB Week-9 picks without regard to the spread.)

This week, goodness gracious, feels like the first ROAD TEST WEEKEND of the year. Fourteen AP-ranked teams are on the road, three of them against other ranked teams (Washington-Utah, Nebraska-Wisconsin, and Clemson-Florida State), and at least a couple are underdogs. This could be the first weekend of the year that wrecks our entire floral arrangement.

Michigan Wolverines at Michigan State Spartans:

#2 Michigan

Michigan State

12:00 PM (ET) ESPN
Spartan Stadium , East Lansing, M

Jim Harbaugh has Michigan marching toward a special season, winning its first seven games and climbing to No. 2 in The Associated Press college football poll for the first time in a decade.

Monthly $10.99 | Yearly Package $29.99 | MAC/OSX Package $49.00

Last year’s Michigan State-Michigan game in Ann Arbor was one of the college football season’s cornerstone moments. The Spartans won on a last-second flubbed-punt runback, shocking the Wolverines and setting themselves up for an eventual Big Ten title and College Football Playoff berth.

If anyone could spoil Michigan‘s perfect season, it could very well be the Michigan State! The instate rivalry is so intense and with the game in East Lansing, the Spartans will have home field advantage on their side. The Wolverines have fielded their best team in years and have been crushing it all season, but MSU knows a thing or two about pulling off wins over them, victorious in their last three meetings.

What’s happened to Michigan State is fairly stunning. The Spartans have gone from a Playoff participant to a team that’s lost five games in a row this year, and they haven’t even played Ohio State and Michigan yet. This has already gotten ugly, and it’s a virtual certainty that more ugliness is on the horizon. Saturday should bring a heavy dosage of it.

Penn State Nittany Lions at Purdue Boilermakers:

#24 Penn State

12:00 PM (ET) ABC
Ross-Ade Stadium, West Lafayett

Penn State travels for a game against Purdue this week ranked in the AP Top 25 for the first time since 2011. The No. 24 Nittany Lions scored an upset against Ohio State last week on a thrilling (and legal) blocked field goal, and it sure looks like this program is back to being good at football. It was a long time in the wilderness.

Monthly $10.99 | Yearly Package $29.99 | MAC/OSX Package $49.00

This season didn’t start out well for Penn State. Ever since James Franklin took over as coach, they were never a Top 25 team despite having Christian Hackenberg. It looked like it would be the same story when they suffered early losses to Pitt and Michigan.

Fresh off their monumental home upset of previously undefeated Ohio State, James Franklin, Saquon Barkley and the Penn State Nittany Lions will aim to add another Big Ten Conference victory on Saturday when they face the Purdue Boilermakers, led by quarterback David Blough.

On the other hand, Purdue has a big coaching problem. Even though Darrell Hazell has given the program three years of mediocrity, they kept him, but on a very short leash. A loss to Iowa seven weeks in was the final death knell for Hazell, and they fired him despite owning a 3-3 record. Gerad Parker is serving as interim head coach, and gave a valiant effort against the Big Ten West’s leading team in Nebraska.

Washington Huskies at Utah Utes:

#4 Washington

#17 Utah

3:30 PM (ET) FS1 Rice-Eccles Stadium, Salt Lake Cit

On Saturday afternoon, Washington and Utah will go to battle in arguably the top game of the college football schedule. The Huskies are ranked No. 4 and Utah comes in at No. 17. They’ll be playing at Rice-Eccles Stadium in Salt Lake City, UT.

Jake Browning

Monthly $10.99 | Yearly Package $29.99 | MAC/OSX Package $49.00

The Washington Huskies, led by quarterback Jake Browning, will face the Utah Utes on Saturday, October 29, 2016, at Rice-Eccles Stadium in Salt Lake City, Utah. The Utes are led by quarterback Troy Williams.

A huge interdivisional showdown in Salt Lake City as the North and South clash when the Washington Huskies face the Utah Utes Saturday with ESPN’s “College GameDay” in town.

In the most recent game against the Bruins, Utah absolutely dominated the rushing game. Joe Williams, who unretired earlier this month, ran for 332 yards and four touchdowns. Not a bad way to make a statement whatsoever. That kind of production will obviously be difficult to replicate, but it will make him someone to watch for this Saturday. Washington allowed nearly 200 rushing yards last week, so Williams could be in for another big game.

Northwestern Wildcats at Ohio State Buckeyes:

#6 Ohio State

3:30 PM (ET) ESPN
Ohio Stadium, Columbus, OH

When the sixth-ranked Ohio State Buckeyes play host to the Northwestern Wildcats in a Big Ten college football game on Saturday, history will be on Ohio State’s side.

J.T. Barrett

Monthly $10.99 | Yearly Package $29.99 | MAC/OSX Package $49.00

Ohio State’s nail-biting loss at Penn State last week was unfortunate, but it doesn’t nearly knock the No. 6 Buckeyes out of the College Football Playoff picture. In fact, the Buckeyes still control their own Playoff destiny – but they’ll almost certainly need to win every game they play for the rest of the season. That starts on Saturday.

The Buckeyes have owned this series, winning 60 of the 75 meetings, and they have not lost to Northwestern in Columbus since 1971. The Buckeyes enter as a nearly four-touchdown favorite, so few are expecting the Wildcats to break their streak of 15 consecutive road losses in the series.

Based on a head-to-head loss, Ohio State’s currently behind Penn State in the Big Ten East, sort of, as both teams have one loss. But if Ohio State wins out and beats Michigan in a season-ending game at Ohio Stadium, the Buckeyes still win the division, regardless of whether Penn State keeps winning. That’s how the Big Ten’s rules work.

Florida Gators at Georgia Bulldogs:

#14 Florida

3:30 PM (ET) CBS EverBank Field, Jacksonville, FL

Here we go again. As if EverBank Field doesn’t get enough boring/bad football of the professional variety, Florida and Georgia are going to get together in Jacksonville to do this whole unnamed rivalry tilt one more time.

Image result

Monthly $10.99 | Yearly Package $29.99 | MAC/OSX Package $49.00

This game will have a significant impact on the SEC East title race, which Florida is currently leading despite having a loss to Tennessee. The Gators need to win out to guarantee a spot in Atlanta, as a tie in the loss column will send the Vols to the title game. It may be a down year in Athens, but a win over Florida would make Georgia fans feel much better about Kirby Smart’s first season.

These two SEC East teams absolutely hate each other. They hate each other so much, they have to play their annual football rivalry at neutral-site Jacksonville. That’s right. The Florida-Georgia/Georgia-Florida rivalry is in full effect this weekend.

Florida is 5-1 (3-1) on the year and have a realistic shot at winning the SEC East. If the Gators win the East and upend presumably the Alabama Crimson Tide in the SEC Championship, Florida could make the College Football Playoff. The Gators are a better team with Luke Del Rio at quarterback.

Nebraska Cornhuskers at Wisconsin Badgers:

#7 Nebraska

#11 Wisconsin

7:00 PM (ET) ESPN
Camp Randall Stadium, Madison,

Nebraska will emerge from Saturday with a Big Ten West lead no matter what happens in its game against Wisconsin. But the stakes are significant anyway, in large part because of what comes afterward.

Monthly $10.99 | Yearly Package $29.99 | MAC/OSX Package $49.00

Nebraska is looking to tighten its grip on the Big Ten West Division. Huskers could also use a statement win on the road to pad its playoff resume, especially with a visit to Ohio State looming next week. Wisconsin must win to keep alive hopes of getting to the conference title game. Both teams are playing “respect” cards.

Unbeaten Nebraska hits the road for its toughest test of the 2016 season, when the Huskers travel to Wisconsin for a primetime matchup. The Huskers are off to their best start in 15 seasons, heading to Wisconsin with a 7-0 record, including a 4-0 mark in Big Ten play.

Wisconsin comes into the game with a 5-2 record and a 2-2 ledger in Big Ten play. The Badgers are ranked 11th in both polls this week. Wisconsin’s only two losses this season have come against top-10 opponents Michigan and Ohio State and have both been by only seven points. Wisconsin features one of the nation’s top defenses, allowing 300.6 yards and 14.3 points per game. Saturday’s game will be a key part of deciding the Big Ten West Division race. NU enters the weekend with a one-game lead over Northwestern with Wisconsin another game behind.

Clemson Tigers at Florida State Seminoles:

#3 Clemson

#12 Florida State

8:00 PM (ET) ABC
Doak Campbell Stadium, Tallahas

Saturday night’s Clemson-Florida State game in Tallahassee doesn’t have the stakes widely imagined for it when the season started, but it’s still an awfully big game, just like it always is nowadays.

Christian Wilkins

Heisman Trophy hopeful DeShaun Watson will lead Dabo Swinney’s undefeated Clemson Tigers against running back Dalvin Cook, head coach Jimbo Fisher and the Florida State Seminoles on Saturday night in a crucial ACC primetime showdown at Doak Campbell Stadium in Tallahassee, Fla., that will have a major impact on the College Football Playoff.

For years, Clemson vs. Florida State has been the most important game in the ACC Atlantic Division. That’s because, since 2009, one of those two teams has gone on to win the division, and since 2011, one of them has gone on to the BCS or College Football Playoff.

There’s no better platform for this game than primetime on ABC. This game might not carry the same stakes as it did last year, but don’t tell the players that. Each week, I will use this space to tell you what I think are a few of the best bets heading into the weekend. I will also throw in an upset of the week, which will be a team that is at least a touchdown underdog that I am picking to win outright.

Last Week, well … let’s just pretend last week didn’t happen. Last week was the Cubs against Clayton Kershaw. And Rich Hill. I am now two games below .500 on the season (11-13). I am 1-5 picking upset specials to win outright, but those teams are 3-3 vs the spread.(Click here for NCAA FB Week-8 picks without regard to the spread.)

Here’s a fun little fact for you. This weekend, No. 6 Texas A&M will hit the road to take on No. 1 Alabama Crimson Tide . The game will be the eighth time this season that we’ve had a matchup of two teams ranked in the top 10 of the current AP poll.

Wisconsin Badgers at Iowa Hawkeyes:

#10 Wisconsin

Wisconsin’s two losses have come to top five teams in Michigan and Ohio State, while Iowa has won consecutive games against Minnesota and Purdue after dropping earlier games to North Dakota State and Northwestern.

Wisconsin wasn’t able to beat Ohio State, but it did jump out an early lead and gave the Buckeyes everything they could handle. Now, it’s a matter of closing out tight games. For Iowa, this is the next step in keeping pace with the Cornhuskers in the West race. This is the first in a brutal three-game stretch, so the Hawkeyes need to get wins where they can.

It’s been a running joke that Iowa has endured some closer-than-expected wins and troubling losses ever since coach Kirk Ferentz was awarded yet another contract extension in September. However, a win over a top-10 team like Wisconsin no matter how it’s done would give Ferentz a little padding as the punch line.

Wisconsin -3.5. There are a lot of similarities between these two teams. Both pride themselves on solid defense that take the ball away. Both rely on the run to set up the pass, but both have better-than-advertised quarterback play.

NC State Wolfpack at Louisville Cardinals:

NC State

#7 Louisville

12:00 PM (ET) ABC
Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium, L

At Saturday at noon eastern, the NC State Wolfpack travel to Louisville to take on the No. 7 Cardinals. The two teams enter on different wavelengths and with much different goals in mind. Here are five storylines and matchups to follow in this ACC Atlantic division battle.

Duke v Louisville

Monthly $10.99 | Yearly Package $29.99 | MAC/OSX Package $49.00

Jackson, the Heisman front-runner, leads a high-powered offense, so it’s no wonder the Cardinals are 19½-point favorites. But the Wolfpack played third-ranked Clemson close a week ago before falling 24-17, so perhaps this contest will be closer than the oddsmakers expect.

NC State is a prohibitive underdog in this game because it isn’t as talented as Louisville, but also because the Cardinals will be at home. Thus far this season, Louisville is a perfect 3-0 at home, including a thrashing of Florida State. Meanwhile, NC State is 0-2 on the road, which includes a loss to a mediocre East Carolina squad. If the Wolfpack don’t overcome their environment, they won’t compete in this one regardless of gameplan.

If not for a complete collapse by the field-goal unit and kicker Kyle Bambard, NC State would have defeated Clemson. The Wolfpack should have won the game. They essentially did win the game, or at least were set up for victory if not for the position of kicker. Bambard missed three total kicks in that game, including the pending game-winner.

Rutgers Scarlet Knights at Minnesota Golden Gophers:

The Golden Gophers notched their first Big Ten win of the season with a 31-10 victory over Maryland on Saturday and will look to claim their second in a Homecoming matchup with Rutgers at TCF Bank Stadium this weekend. I was able to get in touch with Aaron Breitman, managing editor at SB Nation’s Rutgers blog On The Banks, to gain some insight on what we can expect from the Scarlet Knights.

Probably not, but it’s worth asking the question considering any factors that encourage Minnesota to keep the ball on the ground when the teams meet at noon Saturday are not a good thing for Rutgers when looking at the stats.

Running back Rodney Smith ranks No. 3 in the Big Ten with 98.3 rushing yards per game and is tied for No. 5 across the league with seven touchdowns. Backup halfback Shannon Brooks is averaging 81.5 rushing yards per game with three scores.

According to KMSP in Minneapolis and the Minneapolis Star-Tribune, an attorney for defensive backs Ray Buford, KiAnte Hardin and Dior Johnson said the three received restraining orders Friday. They were suspended from the team along with defensive lineman Tamarion Johnson in September for what was termed a violation of team rules.

Texas A&M Aggies at Alabama Crimson Tide:

#6 Texas A&M

#1 Alabama

3:30 PM (ET) CBS Bryant-Denny Stadium, Tuscaloo

The sixth-ranked Texas A&M Aggies return to Tuscaloosa Saturday to face the No. 1 Alabama Crimson Tide in a matchup of the Southeastern Conference’s last unbeaten teams.

Alabama v Tennessee

Monthly $10.99 | Yearly Package $29.99 | MAC/OSX Package $49.00

The Texas A&M Aggies are 4-2 straight up and 3-3 against the spread in their last six road games against conference opponents. The Aggies will face their toughest road test of the season this Saturday afternoon on the road against the Alabama Crimson Tide.

In their last game before the bye, the Aggies blew a double-digit lead against Tennessee to have the game forced into overtime. This was the second time that Texas A&M had done so after blowing a 15-point lead against UCLA in their season opener, but in both cases the Aggies got the job done in overtime and kept their perfect season intact.

Will Alabama continue to dominate, or will they be brought back down to earth against toughest competition they have faced yet? Check out the video above to see what our experts predict!

Eastern Michigan Eagles at Western Michigan Broncos:

Eastern Michigan

#20 Western Michigan

3:30 PM (ET) ESPN3 Waldo Stadium, Kalamazoo, MI

The Western Michigan University football team has a set of Mid-American Conference standings hanging in its locker room. No, not the standings showing the Broncos ranked No. 20 at 7-0 or the ones showing them 3-0 and at the top of the MAC West division.

WMU vs. Northern Illinois

Monthly $10.99 | Yearly Package $29.99 | MAC/OSX Package $49.00

A WMU ticket office representative confirmed that 14,500 tickets have been sold “as of today” (Thursday afternoon) for this weekend’s game against the Eastern Michigan Eagles (5-2, 2-1). With 7,000 tickets reserved for students, that puts remaining tickets just under the 9,000 mark, with sales averaging “800-1,000 tickets sold” per day this week.

The team is plus-12 in turnover margin, good for second in the country, and has turned the ball over just once this season. That came last week when Davon Tucker fumbled against Akron.

“That’s the No. 1 thing tied to winning,” WMU coach P.J. Fleck said Monday. “Usually the guys who don’t turn the ball over and get turnovers are toward the top, and the guys who turn the ball over and don’t get turnovers are toward the bottom.”

Illinois Fighting Illini at Michigan Wolverines:

#3 Michigan

3:30 PM (ET) BTN Michigan Stadium, Ann Arbor, MI

Kenny Allen lost his field-goal kicking job in the Wisconsin game when he missed his first two attempts and Ryan Tice was given a chance before he missed. Allen won the job back before Rutgers but didn’t attempt a field goal. This game will be his first chance to get confidence back.

The graduate transfer from California is averaging 9.7 tackles to lead the Big Ten and rank 21st nationally. Nickerson has 304 career tackles (58 at Illinois), sixth among active FBS players. His father, former NFL great Hardy Nickerson, is the Illinois defensive coordinator.

Michigan’s Jim Harbaugh and Illinois’ Lovie Smith will become the first college coaches to meet after leading teams to the Super Bowl. In their only previous matchup, Harbaugh helped San Francisco beat the Smith-led Chicago Bears, 32-7, in 2012, as Colin Kaepernick made his first start for the 49ers. … Michigan’s defense ranks No. 1 in six categories and No. 2 in two more among FBS teams.

Whether they’ll admit it or not, Michigan realizes to get Jabrill Peppers in the Heisman Trophy conversation, he’ll need more highlight moments. And because opponents can avoid him on punts and double-team him on defense, offense is where he can move the needle, even throwing the ball. It may not be a lot of plays, but there should be a few opportunities in every game.

Purdue Boilermakers at Nebraska Cornhuskers:

At least that’s the expectation from more than 60 predictions for Saturday’s game. Nebraska is the consensus pick, and based on the average margin of victory, it won’t be very close.

Game predictions: Nebraska should breeze past Purdue and remain undefeated

Wisconsin is pretty decent on D, pretty tepid on O. Iowa is more tepid on O and not as great at D. If you think Iowa’s offense can be better than Wisconsin’s defense, that tells everyone who you’re picking. I personally don’t think so, and I think then that Wiscy gets the road win to face the Huskers for the drivers seat in the West.

That’s how Vegas sees it too. As of Friday morning, the Huskers are a 24-point favorite. That’s the largest spread for a Big Ten game this season. NU is 4-1-1 against the spread this season.

Many times, I try to talk myself into going against the grain, but I just can’t see it here. Yes, Wisconsin has played a brutal schedule without a break, but Iowa hasn’t had a week off either and the Badgers sure didn’t look worn down against the Buckeyes. Iowa’s offense is hit or miss and I know which I’d bet on against Wisconsin. Put it this this way – a comment last week asked if I was nuts for saying that Ohio St. would only score 19 against the Badgers. They managed only 23 in regulation.

TCU Horned Frogs at West Virginia Mountaineers:

#12 West Virginia

3:30 PM (ET) ABC
Milan Puskar Stadium, Morganto

CU coach Gary Patterson is hopeful the Frogs will be bolstered by the return of two key offensive players who have missed multiple games because of injuries, receiver/kick returner KaVontae Turpin (knee) and center Austin Schlottmann (foot).

TCU quarterback Kenny Hill starred at Southlake Carroll.

Monthly $10.99 | Yearly Package $29.99 | MAC/OSX Package $49.00

West Virginia’s defense against TCU QB Kenny Hill. The Mountaineers limited Texas Tech’s Patrick Mahomes last week to 305 yards, his second-lowest passing total of the season, and the Red Raiders managed just 34 rushing yards. Hill has three games of 400-plus yards passing this season.

Regardless of how the TCU roster shakes out before kickoff, the Frogs will be facing on the league’s stingiest defenses. West Virginia ranks second among Big 12 teams in scoring defense (19.4) and is third in total defense (410.6). TCU ranks fourth in scoring (40.2) and total offense (530.7).

TCU and West Virginia have been bonded since joining the Big 12 together five years ago. Both (technically) coming to the Big 12 from the Big East, the Frogs and Mountaineers entered into the conference with major question marks. Could they stand up to the heightened level of competition?

Arkansas Razorbacks at Auburn Tigers:

#17 Arkansas

#21 Auburn

6:00 PM (ET) ESPN
Jordan-Hare Stadium, Auburn, A

The Arkansas Razorbacks are 6-4 straight up and 7-3 against the spread in their last 10 games against SEC opponents. The Razorbacks will try to pull off an upset against a conference rival on the road this Saturday against the Auburn Tigers.

Monthly $10.99 | Yearly Package $29.99 | MAC/OSX Package $49.00

Who will start at center? It’s still uncertain. What isn’t up for debate is that Auburn has to face yet another SEC defensive line that can cause issues. In its last outing, Auburn held the dangerous A.J. Jefferson of Mississippi State in check. Can they do it against a much deeper group the Razorbacks field? Defensive end Dietrich Wise Jr. is possibly the most underrated lineman in the SEC.

While coach Gus Malzahn and offensive coordinator Rhett Lashlee — both from Arkansas, have played and coached for the Hogs — downplayed the importance of this game earlier this week. The significance will be obvious Saturday evening.

With last Saturday’s 34-30 win at home over Ole Miss, Arkansas potentially flipped the script on its season. Going off as a 10-point underdog at home, the Razorbacks could have fallen to 0-3 in SEC play and 4-3 overall; instead, they picked up a statement win and brought their season record to 5-2 SU and 3-4 ATS.

Oregon State Beavers at Washington Huskies:

Oregon State

#5 Washington

6:30 PM (ET) PAC12 Husky Stadium, Seattle, WA

OSU will face the toughest game on its schedule shorthanded, with starting quarterback Darell Garretson out for the season, backup Conor Blount out at least this week and starting running back Ryan Nall doubtful to play in Seattle.

Monthly $10.99 | Yearly Package $29.99 | MAC/OSX Package $49.00

Oregon State is heading in the right direction as a program. It might be hard to tell when you watch the Beavers try to throw the ball, something their coach said this week they are “horrible” at. But OSU’s pass defense ranks in the top-10 nationally in a few different categories — including pass defense efficiency and yards per attempt allowed — and the Beavers can at least say they’ve beaten a Pac-12 team. They couldn’t last year.

After previewing Oregon State’s offense, defense and special teams, and speaking with our friends at Building the Dam, our writers are ready to predict the outcome of tomorrow’s matchup with the Beavers. Washington owns a four-game winning streak over the Beavers, and are expected to extend that record via a more than five-touchdown victory. Be sure to chime in the comments below with your own prediction.

The Huskies, meanwhile, are coming off a bye and have clearly been the best team in the Pac-12 through the first half of the season.

Ohio State Buckeyes at Penn State Nittany Lions:

#2 Ohio State

Penn State

8:00 PM (ET) ABC
Beaver Stadium, University Park

The No. 2 Ohio State Buckeyes barely escaped the Wisconsin Badgers last week with a 30-23 overtime victory after overcoming a 10-point halftime deficit. This week, it’s on to face the unranked Penn State Nittany Lions in another prime-time matchup on the road against a Big Ten opponent.

NCAA FOOTBALL: OCT 15 Ohio State at Wisconsin

Monthly $10.99 | Yearly Package $29.99 | MAC/OSX Package $49.00

Off a tough overtime road win that threw off their practice schedule this week, the Buckeyes are getting a taste of what a more competitive Big Ten is like. If the Penn State defense was a little healthier and lot stingier, Ohio State might really feel that. Figure the Badgers to have taken something out of the Buckeyes and figure the Nittany Lions to make some dents in the OSU defense.

Sadly, Ohio State gave up its first rushing touchdown of the season last week against Wisconsin. But when you look at it this way, it took five games, three quarters and 7:06 for an opponent to find the end zone on the ground against the Silver Bullets.

Ohio State has won four in a row at Beaver Stadium, its last loss coming in 2005. Since then, Penn State has gone 11-25 versus Top 25 teams. In that same span, the Nittany Lions have lost four times to an Ohio State team ranked in the top five. The last time these teams played in Happy Valley, the Buckeyes won in double overtime 31-24.

Oklahoma Sooners at Texas Tech Red Raiders:

#16 Oklahoma

Texas Tech

8:30 PM (ET) FOX Jones AT&T Stadium, Lubbock, TX

The Oklahoma Sooners are 10-0 straight up and 8-2 against the spread in their last 10 games against Big 12 opponents. The Sooners will try to continue their conference dominance this Saturday on the road against the Texas Tech Red Raiders.

Monthly $10.99 | Yearly Package $29.99 | MAC/OSX Package $49.00

A win against Texas Tech would give OU its first 4-0 start in Big 12 play since 2004. It would be the sixth 4-0 Big 12 start in school history, all under head coach Bob Stoops. In three of those previous five years (2000, 2002 and 2004), OU went on to win the Big 12 title. A win Saturday would also give OU a five-game winning streak vs. the Red Raiders, matching the team’s longest in the series (2000-04).

The Sooners struggled out of conference play to start the season, picking up losses to Houston and Ohio State en route to a 1-2 SU and 0-3 ATS start. But since conference play has started, Oklahoma has found its groove with a 3-0 SU and 2-1 ATS record so far.

But on the other side of the ball, the Red Raiders rank 116th in the country, allowing 479 yards per game and 124th in scoring defense at 40.2 points per game. The team’s elite offense and porous defense in the first half has led to a 3-3 SU and 4-2 ATS record.

Ole Miss Rebels at LSU Tigers:

#23 Ole Miss

#25 LSU

9:00 PM (ET) ESPN
Tiger Stadium , Baton Rouge, LA

The Coach O Bowl is here. Ed Orgeron says it’s about the kids, not about him when LSU plays Ole Miss, the school that gave Orgeron his first shot. That’s what they all say. Orgeron wants to win this one deep inside and that doesn’t necessarily help LSU’s cause. But the game will be an indicator of the rest of LSU’s unsettling season.

An offense that can’t be stopped — 39.7 points per game worth — goes up against a defense that plays second-fiddle to none, allowing just 14 points per game. An intense interim coach trying to secure his dream job must go through the program that once fired him. Or you could take away any of those elements and it is still LSU-Ole Miss in any given year.

Derrius Guice became the fastest running back to 1,000 career yards in LSU history… and returns to his previous role as the Tigers’ No. 2 running back this week with Leonard Fournette’s return. We will see both get the ball Saturday against one of the SEC’s worst run defenses.

LSU has had time to gather itself after the changeover in coaches and are in a pretty good spot with newfound confidence on offense. The Rebels have struggled on defense all season. The crowd will make things tough for the Ole Miss offense, but Chad Kelly will make LSU work for this one.
